Larry Gregg, Sr., an author of historical fiction, critical thinking essays, and Christian devotional literature draws upon a rich variety of experiences that illuminate the pages of his works. With a background as a retired Christian Minister and University and Divinity School Professor, Larry’s transition into the realm of literature has marked the beginning of a third career.

A native of Tuscaloosa, AL, Larry’s roots run deep in the American southeast, a region that often finds its way into the backdrop of his stories and essays. He has been married for more than fifty years to the former Peggy Franks of Birmingham, AL. They have been blessed with two sons and three grandchildren. Currently residing near Rutherfordton, NC, amidst the picturesque foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, Gregg finds inspiration in the serene surroundings, infusing his works with the essence of the scenic landscape.

Larry holds degrees from institutions such as Jacksonville State University (BA), Samford University (MA), and The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary (MDiv. & PhD). His thirst for knowledge led him to graduate studies at New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary and The University of Pittsburgh, followed by postdoctoral studies at The University of Notre Dame.

Over the decades Larry taught at Indiana University Southeast, St. Catharine’s College, The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, Gardner-Webb University, Isothermal Community College, and Limestone College. This diverse background, coupled with a profound love for history and its lessons ideally positions him as an author of stories that blend history, contemporary life, and human emotional and spiritual needs.
